14th October 2026 marks Thank Your Cleaner Day, an opportunity to show our appreciation for all Cleaning Operatives who work across Mount Charles’ 700+ sites across the island of Ireland! Being a Cleaning Operative is one of the hardest, yet under-valued professions in, but we certainly recognise their importance at Mount Charles.
Operations Director, Stacey McAlister sums it up perfectly “”It’s just cleaning, how hard can it be? Anyone can do it. Just a mop and bucket job will do.”
Honestly? I still hear variations of this all the time, and it couldn’t be further from the truth .Too often in Facilities Management, cleaning is treated as a background afterthought. In new build construction we frequently see where the sluice room, designated chemical store or machinery storage have been forgotten. But let’s set the record straight: professional cleaning is back-breaking work backed by science. Our operatives aren’t just pushing mops They are highly skilled professionals who understand chemical reactions, surface care, cross-contamination, and strict infection control protocols. They are the ones who transform a chaotic, high-traffic facility into a spotless, hygienic, and welcoming environment every single day.”
So today, and every day, we want to thank our cleaners for the hard work and dedication they put in every single day!
