Catering in shift-based workplaces is different
In manufacturing, industrial and other fast-moving workplaces, food has to do more than simply be available. It needs to be convenient, good value, filling, and consistent in quality — while fitting around shift work, short breaks and changing workforce expectations.
For many industrial and production environments, a standard canteen approach is no longer enough.
Shift patterns can make demand difficult to predict, with food needed across early starts, late finishes and overnight working. Break windows are often tight, which means convenience matters just as much as choice. At the same time, workers increasingly expect better quality, more variety and clearer value for money.
